Celebrity sells! Period! And the great thing about “celebrity” is that you can create your own!
We pay athletes and movie stars ridiculous amounts of money to endorse products and services because people like to follow celebrities and do what they say. However, you don’t have to pay a celebrity or become a famous athlete or movie star to benefit from their power.
The easiest way to start building your own personal celebrity is to create YouTube videos of yourself talking about your business, industry, topic of interest, etc. You don’t need to pay a videographer to do this. Just buy a digital video camera (recommended) or use your smart phone.
You can also contact your local media and pitch them a story that they’ll like and want to share with their audience. The easiest way to get media attention is to write a book. That gives you and them something to talk about.
You can also host a charitable event or do something to benefit those in need. That also gets the media’s attention.
You won’t be able to overtly pitch your business during the media coverage, but you’ll be able to talk about your business and they’ll typically provide your contact info at the end of the segment.
By putting yourself out in the public eye, you can create your own celebrity status and use it to sell and market your business. It’s not as hard as you might think.

Hi, I am JP Stonestreet, the new business energizer. Are you a celebrity? Do you want to be a celebrity? Even if you don’t, you probably should. If you are trying to sell things, you are trying to market your business, celebrity sells. Last week, I was on two separate radio shows (actually I have been on several radio shows around the country, several in LA). I have even been on Extra talking about my book The Web Startup Roadmap and this isn’t free or cheap by any means. In fact, I spent quite a bit of money to get myself interviewed on these outlets. Why am I doing that? Why am I putting myself through this? Why am I putting myself out there in the public eye? It’s because celebrity sells. It’s why we pay famous athletes and movie stars big bucks to sell different types of merchandize and item. People like celebrities, we follow them; it’s part of our instinct. For some reason, we like to follow celebrities and we like to do what they tell us to do. You can create your own personal brand celebrity by doing a few simple things, like getting interviewed on radio stations. You can also contact some people who can help you with this. Ingrid Elfver helps people become celebrities. She runs a website called BornCelebrity.com. Go check out her website. She has lots of services to help you create your own personal celebrity. YouTube is another way to create celebrity. By recording YouTube videos, like the one you are watching right now, you can give yourself a little bit of celebrity. Just seeing people on video makes them feel more like a celebrity. So, do these simple things. Create you personal brand celebrity and give yourself some more credibility and more awareness in the public eye and it just might help you increase the sales and the profit in your business.
