A few weeks ago, my good friend and fellow entrepreneur Brad DeGraw gave me a great idea. I told him that I created some new landing pages for my website and was having a great time playing around with them.
In case you don’t know what a landing page is, it’s a specific type of page either on your website or on a specialized domain that’s used to build your email list or sell a product or service.
After talking for a few minutes about this, Brad said I should start offering landing pages as one of my services. He said a lot of people struggle with creating effective landing pages that actually convert, so there’s probably a big need for it.
Of course I jumped on the idea. It makes a lot of sense and it fills a real demand, but I didn’t fully appreciate the idea until this week.
That’s when I explained the new service to my business coach, Sandy. We spent nearly the entire hour putting together the “commercial” or pitch I can use at networking events.
During this process, Sandy asked me a bunch of questions to help build the pitch. One of the questions was, “Didn’t you own an online lead generation business?”
“Yes I did. That’s the one I sold.”
“How many customers did you have?” she asked.
“We had over 2,000 in the database.”
“So you’re telling me you helped thousands of people get more paying customers using online lead generation?”
“Well, I guess I did. I didn’t think of it that way,” I said.
“Didn’t you sell that company for multi-million dollars?”
“Yes I did.”
Then she said, “Let me make sure I understand. You built an online lead generation company, you helped thousands of people get more paying customers, and you sold the company for a multi-million dollar price tag. And you’re just NOW thinking about offering this as a service?! What took you so long?!”
That was my “head-slap” moment. Why DID it take me so long to do this?! Why was Brad the one to give me this idea?! Why didn’t I think of this idea years ago?! Just think of how many paying customers small business owners have lost in the past 5 years because I didn’t connect the dots!
You know why it took me so long? It’s because I was too close to see it. I couldn’t see the forest for the trees. That’s the value of having mentors and coaches. Sometimes, we need them to point out the obvious thing staring us in the face.
If you’d like my team (yes, I’ve already assembled a team) to take a look at your website and do a conversion analysis, we’ll tell you what you can do to improve it so you get more paying customers from your website.
For a limited time, I’m offering this analysis for only $20. Get it now while it’s still cheap and start getting more paying customers from your website!
