David Mendal started his entrepreneurial journey with a single travel agency when he was 21 years old, becoming the youngest person to own a travel agency in the US. Now, Forest Travel generates more than $46 Million annually and is one of the few agencies licensed by Virgin Galactic to sell space tourism tickets.
One of David’s innovations matches travelers with empty aircraft at a discounted rate. Instead of flying empty jets to pickup locations, his software allows those empty seats to be sold by the companies that own the aircraft to travelers going to those destinations. It’s a little like Priceline for airplanes.
This is a brilliant business model and one that can be duplicated in all sorts of industries.
