In entrepreneurial circles, when you change directions in your business, we call it “pivoting.” That’s a nice way of saying, “What I’m doing now, isn’t working.”
Politicians could learn from us entrepreneurs. They call a change in direction, “flip-flopping” and make it out to be a bad thing, even in light of new information or understanding.
Not us entrepreneurs, though! We are constantly learning and adapting, or we won’t be in business very long. Too bad we can’t say the same thing about politicians!
Over the past year or two, I’ve been building a speaking, writing, training, coaching business. I love all those things and thought I could make a thriving business out of them.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened. Even though it took 20 years to learn gain the knowledge that has led to my success, I found it difficult to charge someone for something that seemed like common sense to me.
A few months ago, a realization struck me: If I don’t feel comfortable charging for my services, I’m selling the wrong thing!
Soon thereafter, OnlineStir was born and today, I’m announcing it’s official launch! Welcome to the start of another crazy entrepreneurial adventure!
We already have several clients under our belt and more in the pipeline. You can checkout what we’ve done for a few of them on our Before & After page.
As a result in this change of direction, starting next week, my newsletter will come from my OnlineStir email and have the OnlineStir branding.
The content won’t change, though. I’ll still be writing it the same way I’ve always written. I just wanted you to know so you’re prepared for the new email.
This is a major change in directions/pivot/flip-flop, but I know it’s the right one. It’s much more rewarding to help you grow your business in a real, tangible way, instead of just talking to you about it.
And, I don’t have a problem charging for it because it’s a real deliverable with real value. That’s a real business!
This has already been a fun and crazy journey! I’m excited to share all of the lessons I learn along the way with you, and I’m sure I’ll make lots of mistakes…I always do. But if we all learn from them, they’ll be worth it!
I’d like to leave you with a few words from one of my personal hero’s, Steve Jobs…
“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
He’s talking about you! Now get out there and “Make a dent in the Universe!”
