Yesterday afternoon, I spoke with Kathy about her jewelry business. At last week’s Lunch ‘n Learn, she seemed pretty upset about her business and where she is in the process of building it. Being the worrying sort that I am, I followed up with her this week to see how she was doing.
Her main frustration is with finding time to work on her business. She has a day-job that pays the bills, but it’s draining her energy and time. At the end of a 60-hour workweek, there’s not much of her left for the new business.
She’s not alone…am I right? We all struggle with this. I’ve been spending a lot of my time putting a presentation together that I’m giving for the Small Business Administration next week, and that hasn’t left much time for the other parts of my business. Those other parts are really important to me, but they’ve been pushed to the side…at least for now.
While talking to Kathy yesterday, she mentioned how one of my Daily Entrepreneurial Inspiration emails inspired her to keep moving forward and making progress. The gist of my inspirational message is you need to take at least one step toward your goal every day, no matter how small that step is.
“It’s like throwing a penny in a jar,” Kathy said. “It may not seem like much at the time, but penny’s add up to dollars. And dollars add up to 20’s. And 20’s add up to 100’s.”
She’s absolutely right! Each step you take puts you one step closer to living the life you choose to live! Keep taking steps…EVERY…SINGLE…DAY!
